SUSTAINABILITY @ MAK’S FLOWERS
VASES
designs are made in two kinds of vases:
unique containers that are sourced second hand locally, and new jars with the lids provided
these vases are thoughtfully selected with reusability in mind so if the recipient has no use for theirs, vases can be returned to Mak’s for a future discount!
this effort keeps existing materials in use and out of our waste systems, lowers material costs, and has a bonus benefit of enhancing each arrangement’s unique charm and personalized feel
FLOWERS
no chemicals or dyes are used to alter flowers’ appearance or lifespan (this is more common than you might realize!), which means that all natural materials in your arrangement are compostable, and no new waste was created in the design process
every arrangement comes with instructions for keeping your flowers fresh as long as possible and drying them for long-term enjoyment
additionally, Mak’s Flowers has a zero-waste design process, and all trimmings and leftovers are composted or dried for continued use
LA Compost is a great organization to learn more about what to do with your organic waste, as well as many locations/events for dropoff
PACKAGING
all packaging provided and used for transportation is recyclable, reused, and/or compostable
WATER
maybe T.M.I. but transparency is an important part of sustainability…
preparing/storing flowers takes a whole lot of water and as much as possible, waste water gets used in the plumbing system (A.K.A. flushing the toilet) at the studio
